Colorado Art Ranch

Residencies

Who: Colorado Art Ranch provides one-month residencies to writers and visual artists from around the world. We encourage emerging artists, as well as established artists, to apply. Because Colorado Art Ranch is located in a different area each session (with varying studio space), we can only accommodate the following art disciplines: painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, and mixed-media. Writers of every genre are eligible to apply.

What: Each residency has a mix of 5 to 6 artists and writers. Residents receive free admission to the Artposium and living and studio space for one month. Residents are responsible for travel, food, and an application fee of $30 and shipping or removing their work at the end of the residency. Each resident gets a private room, but may share a bath and cooking facilities. We generally give the bigger rooms to writers so they have the option of working there.

Where: Colorado Art Ranch nurtures the creative spirit in beautiful, secluded, and supportive environments throughout Colorado. Residencies are located in donated or rented space in selected towns of rural Colorado. The landscapes of Colorado--open meadows, rock outcroppings, and mountain views--inspire artists at a visceral level. The simplicity of the setting is a dramatic foil for the residents' struggle to express complex ideas.

How: Artists are selected by a panel chosen by the executive director and board members.
